Lisa  Abbott from L.A.Holistics  is an experienced and registered Holistic Therapist and Wellbeing Coach  based in Romford , Dagenham and Thurrock. She provides a range of Holistic Therapies from head to toe to suit everyone needs. She is passionate about empowering people to take responsibility for their own health through her work as a Holistic Therapist and Wellbeing Coach.

Lisa Abbott is registered with both the Association of Reflexologists and the Shiatsu Society. She has been a therapist since 1993 and has supported people with their physical and mental health issues since this time.

As a holistic therapist, she aims not only to treat everyone as an individual but by their symptoms as well, rather than grouping or labelling symptoms as a specific illness.

Reflexology

The feet and hands mirror the body and by applying pressure to different parts of the foot (or hand) you can stimulate and increase healing in the body both mentally and physically.

It is suitable for all ages and may bring relief from a wide range of health and stress related conditions, such as:

 Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a Japanese word meaning “finger pressure”. It is a traditional Japanese healing therapy using pressure from the hands, thumbs, fingers, elbows and knees with more dynamic manipulations and stretches where needed. It may help with a wide range of conditions, from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health.

Shiatsu by Lisa Abbott is a deeply relaxing experience and regular treatment helps us to prevent and cope with stress in our daily life.

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

Vital energy known as Qi flows throughout the body in a series of meridians. It is essential for health that Qi within the body is harmonious. However, for many reasons (e.g. trauma, stress, illness) Qi can become disrupted or stuck.

Negative energy that is stuck will cause symptoms and eventually lead to disease. The aim of Shiatsu is to release this congested or stuck energy and to restore even flow throughout the body.

Depending on each individual’s state of health and symptoms, this is achieved by a variety of simple techniques ranging from gentle pressure or holding to more energetic rotations or stretches. As the ki flow and quality improve symptoms associated with lack of flow gradually improve.

Shiatsu is a holistic therapy working on the physical, emotional and/or mental health as a whole, on each individual.

Treatment takes place on the floor on a comfortable padded mat. If a person is unable to lie down, treatment can be given in a sitting position.  The client is asked to wear lose, warm, comfortable clothing (e.g. sweatshirt, jogging trousers and socks).

Facial Reflexology

Face reflexology uses a combination of acupuncture points, Chinese meridians, Andean tribal body maps and nerve points to create a deeply relaxing and effective treatment.

Using only the fingertips and natural oil, it focuses on identifying and balancing the root cause of your health problems – not just the symptom. Working on the face is in close proximity to the brain and central nervous system which increases the ability to stimulate the healing process more effectively.

Another advantage of working on the face is that the result is a glowing complexion due to the increased blood circulation and lymphatic drainage.

TREATMENT PROCEDURE:

As with other therapies a consultation will take place to establish a person’s health and wellbeing. Followed by stimulation of facial acupuncture points to awaken the nerve structure and increase circulation.

This is followed by stimulation using various traditional face maps which aim to initiate the healing process to balance your physical and psychological wellbeing. Following the first treatment, a plan of additional points and procedures and will be made for your specific needs which will then be used on subsequent treatments. A course of treatment is often advised for best results.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM FACIAL REFLEXOLOGY ?

Since this is a rebalancing treatment anyone can benefit and there are no long term contra indications. You do not need to have a health issue to enjoy the treatment. Children may respond well and it has been used to assist with reducing over active behaviour and to help with learning difficulties.

Any stress or hormonal imbalances may benefit and not forgetting the benefits for your SKIN.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a safe, gentle, hands-on treatment that works with your body to soften and release the restrictions that cause pain, tension and inflammation. The gentle sustained pressure and warmth from Lisa Abbott’s hands allows the ground substance within the fascia to become more fluid again allowing the fibres to soften and release. This in turn allows fibres to elongate and unwind into their correct position again increasing function, mobility and eliminating pain.

Lisa was trained by Ruth Duncan, a highly skilled and experienced Lecturer and owner of Myofascial Release UK who spent many years training with John F.Barns an American Physiotherapist, who developed this innovative and highly effective whole body approach for treatment of pain dysfunction.

The technique involves sustained gentle pressure with gentle stretches which are held for approximately 5 minutes. This is sometimes combined with other soft tissue techniques incorporated into the treatment plan.

The treatment aim is to release restrictions and scar tissue that could have been present for many years or are more recent. As the fascia softens a release can be felt in various parts of the body or sometimes with very subtle releases you may not be aware of anything happening.

Myofascial Release can benefit anyone as we can all develop incorrect postural habits that put strain on the body. People who have repetitive activities would find this treatment helpful and that includes trades workers and office people alike.

What to expect from a treatment:

During the first treatment and consultation which can take as long as 90 minutes, a full medical history will be taken ( to save time, this can be emailed to you and returned to myself prior to treatment ).

Skin to skin contact is needed so clothing to wear is shorts and a bra top for ladies

Some people feel immediate benefits after the treatment, while others find that symptoms change over the next couple of days .

Everybody will respond in their own way.

Occasionally, symptoms may get worse before they get better. This is a normal response to treatments like this that affect the whole body and is nothing to worry about. Drinking plenty of water can help, as can listening to what your body needs.

A class to release, circulate strengthen and harness your Qi (Life force energy).

Since the Covid pandemic this class has given support to many different people.

  • Wanted to get out of their head and more in tune with their body.

What do we do?

In these classes we move to release “stuck” qi (life force energy). We stretch , tap, use self- massage to stimulate meridians . We practice “Qi Gong” flowing movements to focus our minds and strengthen our qi. Finally we use stillness and breath work and relaxation to calm, focus and strengthen the mind.
